MLC Established
MLC was founded by Max Louis at age 18 to create a space where clients and artists collaborate together with a structured pipeline and proper processes. At the time it was a pioneering effort and the remote-first strategy turned out to be a winning decision.
First Employee
Hiring the first employee is always a giant leap and it was no less for MLC. We were ever expanding by growing from a five-figure to a six-figure business in just two years. The hardest part of our growth at this stage was with getting known in the industry with our small network and client list.
Rebrand and Refocus
We knew it was time to use our growth to establish a solid foundation for long-term success. We rebranded with a not just a new look, but a new name, moving from Max Louis Creative to Magna Ludum Creatives. This would prove to set us off!
Studio Expansion
We hired our second employee in September 2021 and by mid 2022 we had over 12 full time members of staff. Growth was huge this year with 163% growth in 2022 alone thanks to huge investment into the games industry coupled with our ever improving services and artist network.
Launch of co-development with new partners. Players Attic, to bring Wild Yonder to life.
Fast Growth Trajectory
We quickly grew in 2022 to bring on more retainer clients, work on some incredible projects and grow our artist network to over 150 talented artists
Games Industry Setbacks
With the wave of game cancellations, layoffs and investors slowing down, the whole industry saw a hiatus of growth that would affect many studios, MLC included. We worked hard to push through it and stand loyal together as a team and minimise the impact as much as possible on our network and staff.
The Strong Return
After a record for new project starts at MLC in January 2024, March saw more records being broken and growth sky rocketing for the first quarter of 2024. With many projects MLC had worked on over the past 2 years finally releasing, we were ecstatic to share our work on titles like Lord of The Rings: Return to Moria and Knights In Tight Spaces.
Engineering Introduced
Full engineering support introduced through a partnership built over many years with Matrioshaka Games. MLC has grown from an art network to a full development house building games for both clients and our own IP.
