Enigmatic Machines

Expedition Zero, a survival horror set in the heart of Siberia, has had our help with some eery-looking character concepts and models. The “villager” characters were modelled in ZBrush, retopology in Topogun, and baked and textured in Substance Painter. The clothes were completed in Marvelous designer and later in Zbrush, retopology with Zremesher and baking and texturing in Substance Painter. The models were finished in around 3 days each, including the clothing and base models. Here you’ll find a collection of the concepts we conjured up, and the later models from these concepts. As you can see, these aren’t your ordinary village folk!

We helped with 3D Character

The Brief

We started with concepting the characters in 2D which comprised of character sketches and a final deliverable of a character sheet. Our client wanted the villagers to have intact clothing, but with rips, tears, and dirt; their skin had to appear unnatural. From the concepts, our 3D team was then able to create the finished 3D models.
